Who Can Enter

Architectural, engineering, and design firms—and others related to the field, including educational institutions—may submit entries completed in the past five years or significant works in progress to be considered for review.

How Projects Are Reviewed

A select jury of architects and educational facility planners reviews all entries for inclusion in the issue and identifies the top projects to receive Grand Prize Awards, Citations of Excellence, and Honorable Mentions for both pre-K to 12 and university projects in each edition. Check out the most recent honorees.

Judges evaluate each project based on the completeness of the submission and the quality of these components:

  • Statement of challenges and solutions
  • Exterior photographs and solutions
  • Exterior photographs showing main entrance and at least one other view
  • Interior photographs showing instructional and support spaces
  • Floor and site plan
